Magic Sands Beach Hawaii

Updated: Jan 10, 2023

This Post is all about Magic Sands Beach, Hawaii

Magic Sands Beach, also known as White Sands Beach or La'aloa Beach, is a hidden gem located in Kona, Hawaii. This beautiful beach is unique in that the sand appears and disappears with the changing tides.

During low tide, the sandy beach stretches out for hundreds of feet, making it the perfect spot for swimming, sunbathing, and playing beach games. However, as the tide comes in during the winter months, the sand slowly disappears, revealing a more rocky coastline.

Magic Sands Beach is a popular spot for boogie boarders, as the waves can get quite large. The beach is also great for snorkeling, as the waters are crystal clear and home to a variety of colorful fish. Or you can get active and jump in on a game of volleyball.

One of the best things about Magic Sands Beach is its laid-back atmosphere. It's a great place to relax and unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy areas. The beach is also very family-friendly, making it a great destination for a day trip with the kids.

There are also amenities at the beach such as restrooms and showers to rinse off in.

If you're looking for a beautiful, local beach to spend a day at, Magic Sands Beach is the perfect place. And if you're lucky you might spot a native Hawaiian Monk Seal, a sea turtle, or a few spinner dolphins.

Magic Sands Beach Grill

Magics Beach Grill & Beach Shack is a popular restaurant located just a few steps away from the beach. Making it the perfect spot to go for a bit to eat after a day in the sun. The restaurant is known for its casual and laid-back atmosphere, as well as its delicious food and drinks.

The menu at Magic's Beach Grill features a variety of dishes, including burgers, sandwiches, salads, and seafood. The restaurant also has a great selection of beers, cocktails, and other beverages to enjoy with your meal.

One of the highlights of Magic's Beach Grill is its outdoor seating area, which offers views of the ocean and beautiful surroundings. The restaurant is a popular spot for tourists and locals alike and is a great place to relax and enjoy the sunset.

Or hit up their beach shack to grab to-go food and drinks to bring to the beach! They have options such as iced coffee, acai bowls, cold beers, seltzers, and sandwiches.

Da Poke Shack is just a short drive up the road. It's a grab-and-go type of place so I recommend swinging by and picking it up for a picnic on the beach. Da Poke Shack is one of the most popular places to get poke on the island, and it's popular for a reason! The Poke is delicious! Poke, is poke, a popular Hawaiian dish made with diced raw fish, usually, tuna, mixed with a variety of seasonings and sauces.

In addition to its delicious poke, Da Poke Shack also serves a variety of other seafood dishes, including fish tacos, lobster rolls, and shrimp plates. The restaurant also has a great selection of beers and other beverages to enjoy with your meal.

The restaurant is located in a small, unassuming building and has a no-frills decor, but the food is top-notch and the service is friendly.

If you're a fan of seafood and want to try a local meal check out Da Poke Shack. You won't be disappointed!

Directions and Parking

If you go to downtown Kona and continue down the main strip, which is Ali'i Dr. in a couple of miles on the right-hand side you will see the bach.

As for parking, there is a small free parking lot located across the street from the beach. Where you'll find locals selling coconuts & homemade sunscreen, along with a Shave Ice Food Truck. However, the lot can fill up quickly on busy days, so you may have to park on the street if the lot is full.

Respect for the Locals & the Land

Hawaii has a rich cultural history, and it is important to respect the customs and traditions of the local people. This includes things like not taking anything from sacred sites or the land such as sand, rocks, or shells, and avoiding loud or disruptive behavior in public places. Be mindful of your surroundings: Hawaii is home to a variety of unique and delicate ecosystems, including coral reefs, tropical forests, and sandy beaches. Be sure to respect the environment and take care not to damage or pollute these areas. You can do so by wearing reef-safe sunscreen and not having other lotions or oils before going into the ocean. Pick up after yourself and don't litter. There is a huge fine for it in Hawaii. Above all, be considerate of others and treat them with respect, and the island and the people will welcome you.
